    Default Best Deals This Fall

When I open Web Designer Premium I get a white box headed "Best Deal This Fall" - the box is otherwise empty. I can't stop this and so far Magix support haven't given me a solution. Any ideas please?

Don't know why the ad is empty, nor why a European company would call Autumn fall, but here's all the exciting stuff what you're missing.

spring forward, fall back - the usage is very common still here, and of course, predates autumn in general usage

Is the term Fall originally from Britain? I always presumed it was American/Canadian.

We use either but Fall is probably used more often.

Otherwise it is very confusing when you try to remember is it Spring Forward, Autumn Back?

Yes, it began in GB and lost favour in C17 just as the language went overseas.

Mixing the two together is, however, just daft.

I spent the first 26 years of my life in the UK and have no recollection of Fall being used, nor the term Spring forward, Fall back. What does that saying refer to?

I know most English sayings date way back to the times when Vikings were not just a TV series. I also remember the Harvest Festival being touted in schools (although a can of baked beans isn't really a harvest item). Spring and Fall > seasons > harvest + reading/writing not a thing before Wikipedia = sayings we no longer understand the origins of. There are quite a few sayings that are used out of their original context, but of courde I can't think of a single one to use as an example.

Spring forward, Fall back is for the change to and from Daylight Saving.
