Oooooops, a little correction of some misinformation is needed here. http://www.the-highway.com/Smileys/Eeeeeek.gif

    1) If the O/S is XP, then it has it's own native CD-burning program (see here: http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm ), so no 3rd party software is needed to burn to CD-R media.

    2) CD-RW discs do not have to be formatted to be used. You can use them right out of the box as if they were a CD-R disc. The advantage over CD-Rs is that you can actually erase them and reuse them afterward. However, if you do format them with a "packet writing" application, e.g, Roxio's "DirectCD" or "Nero InCD", then you can copy, move, delete, and overwrite files by simply copying/moving them in all the various ways you would normally do this, e.g., context menu, Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v, drag & drop, etc.

It is true, that if he is trying to copy (burn) these screensaver files to a CD-R disc which is "closed", as opposed to one that was burned with "multi-session", which allows additional data to be added later, then it won't work. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Hi Pilgrim,

What part of what I wrote mentions 3rd party software?

Native XP code is still software is it not?

If it is a CD burner then you will also need software that supports writing direct to a writable CD. If you do have a CD burner and the correct software . . .
This is why I added that IF the person had Windows XP, then no additional software would be needed. IF, however, he is running anything other than Win XP, then a 3rd party burning application will be needed.

My intention was to clarify that fact because in my many conversations with my clients, those who had Win XP didn't even realize that there was a native CD burning program included. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Very true, Jeff, very true. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I sometimes think I'm the only person that has users or clients that are not computer literate. Today was one where it seems the few I thought knew something, tried to prove that they did not. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Correct! Unless you are using a FORMATTED CD-RW disc, you wouldn't be able to save the file directly to the disc as it needs to be "burned" by using a CD Burning application, e.g., XP's native CD Burning program, Easy CD Creator, Nero Burning ROM (or Nero Express), or some other.
