Very simple question. I have never used flash before but find myself supporting an application using it. I need a means of turning off flash for slower connections. Can this be done simply in a page or does this happen within flash?

Are you talking about an application? Or a Website? If it's a Website, then you can use JavaScript to detect the Flash plugin. You can use Colin Moock's FPI to view it. If you haven't seen his FPI, check out:

It's the most comprehensive and well-written detection script I've seen, yet.
