    Hi,

can anyone let me know the answers to these questions:

Q1: How can i apply a gradient effect to either text or a shape/object in XaxaX ?

Q2: How can i apply a silver/chrome effect to text or shapes? What i mean is let it look like it was made of chrome or silver.

Q3: Would also helpful if you could tell me how to achieve mentioned effects in programs like Illustrator, CorelDraw, FreeHand , Photoshop etc or if there are special filters for those effects.
I own all of the latest versions of these programns but rarely use them as my main tool really is XaraX.

So, anyone that could tell me how to ?

Any help really is appreciated, thanks in advance.

    1. Select the text with the Fill Tool.

    2. From the drop down list of Fill Types on the Infobar, select your gradient preference: Linear, Circular, Elliptical, Conical, Diamond, 3-color, 4-color.

Gold and Chrome fills: Start Here.

    See the pic below.

Just apply linear gradient fill and add a few points as shown. You may play with a values of Black http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Sorry for my ignorance but how did you get the fill to arch like that? I've tried and can only get a straight line across. I've tried the circular and ecliptical fills and that didn't work for me either.

    frustrated newbie..

I suspect Alexander created a blend using a series of curved lines then used PowerClip to mask the blend inside of the text.

Place the text (or any other shape) under the blend. Select both the text and the blend, and from the Arrangle menu, select Apply PowerClip.

Oops! CorelDRAW calls it PowerClip, Xara calls it Apply ClipView.

You have the container, as it were, which is the shape into which you want to place something, and the something that you want to mask.

Place the container (a shape, text) beneath the fill object. Select both and from the Arrange menu, select Apply Clip View. Xara places the fill object inside of the container object.

When you select a ClipView object, two lock icons appear: one in the center of the object and one in the upper left corner. Click on the center lock icon to edit or move the contents of the mask. Click the left corner icon to edit or mover the container around the contents.

    This help?
