This Air Force colonel appreciates the value of computer technology, but he's
not exactly up on typical everyday computer jargon, says the IT in the
colonel's command.

So when a general from the Communications and Computer directorate is scheduled
to come see the wing's latest innovations and improvements in computer and
network technology, the colonel calls in the IT guy to be certain he makes a good
first impression.

"I was brought into the meeting as the guy who was responsible for making a lot
of it happen," IT guy says. "And just in case the general asked a question that
the colonel couldn't answer, I would try my best to bail him out."

The general arrives, and the three go to the colonel's office, where a brand-new
PC rests on the colonel's handsome new desk.

"Hey, that's a really nice-looking desktop you have there," says the
computer-savvy general as he takes a seat.

"Why, thank you, sir," says the colonel, beaming. "If you like that, you ought
to see the matching sofa and end tables I ordered to go with it."
