Here's 3 pictures I've done over the last several days.

    http://www.dkingdesign.com/space/sta...nter_large.jpg

This first one has the fractal image most apparent. The fractal image was generater using the Fraxplorer plugin from Kai's Power Tools from within Painter6. From there I added the planet, the star (looks like the giant space flower LOL) and the spaceship and thrust. Lots of tweaking and darkening here and there.

    The second one here ...

... started with a fractal image at http://www.dkingdesign.com/space/fractal_image.jpg . Everything else was done in Painter6 (like the planet debris was painting away parts of shapes on their masks which can create fine sharp sided particles quickly with a small brush).

    The third one ...

    http://www.dkingdesign.com/space/to_the_station.jpg

... was done using two renderings (posed and render for this image) of models of a starship and a space station I made in Truespace6. they were rendered on flat grey backgrounds so they could be removved from the images in Painter.

For this one I used a couple plugins from www.flamingpear.com .

Used Flaming Pear's Glitterato plugin to create a star background with nebulous cloud. I also used Flaming Pear's Lunar Cell plugin to create the basic planet involved. These two plugins can make incredibly details star fields with or without nebulae. You can click the dice button for random ones and then (or) tweak to get what you want.

The Flaming Pear plugins are awesome!

I used a couple duplicates of the ship and zoom blurred them for some motion effect. Lotsof tweaking in Painter6 all day for this one.

Very nice images. What you call a very very reasonable use of fractals.
