An amazing sketch Bu - my only criticism would be the arm - it looks too smooth for such an elderly person.
Did you do it on the black background or just add that after? It is reallty effective.

Good to have you in the Xara Gallery Conference.
I agree with Christine that the arm looks too youthful for the arm's owner. But the image is stunning and beautiful and the old gentleman is a wonderful character.

The pages on the book are just too 3D, there have been many that tried to get text to curve and wave like that.
The arm is way too youthful and the hand too!!
Suggestion: How about applying some fractal clouds to the arm to with some transparency to create a cracked old skin texture and add some hair, old guys usually have long, sparce (sometimes not) "furry" forams. He's got a beard and long full head of hair still, so he's got to have SOME hair left on his forarm, don't ya think?? Heck, even females have some sort of hair there unless they bleach it out or shave it off!! Can ya tell I'm a hairdresser??
If it is entirely XaraX then WOW!!!
Is that a pentacle on his robe I see peering out from the shadows??? I LOVE IT!!! Right on!!!

It's a wonderful, moody picture, and a charming old man! To complete it, just add wrinkles.

About the arm…. Yep, I now… It doesn’t match the rest of the picture. But I couldn’t imagine how to make it look older than it now.
Any ideas?

Yes, I do it on this bg.
By the way, it’s not a really black background – dark gray. I think black can’t represent depth… Or, at least, not all the time And idea was to make picture a-la Enigma video – do you remember it?

It is all Xara
See the wire version of picture
All the Best, Bu
I like the way you tackled the hair - it appears to be done with feathered pressure-profiled lines to great effect!

for butiful...Yes this is beautiful. Nice to have you on board. Please post some more.
Bu,
It's an impressive effort. Some have suggested ways to improve the arm. I'm sure you'll come up with a way to age it. What a scholastic, solitary, moody picture. Great. - Neil
