Graeme, it's splendid! And you've done wisely: you have created a virtually neutral black-gray object, and yet avoided that deadly total gray by putting in a lot of sublte hues. Now get some more light into those little light-thingies, and you have a real winner: almost enough to make a man WANT to shave!

Have to agree with all,Great illustration. Thanks for the closeup.
Richard, If I had a web shop – you’d be one of my better customers with a curious shopping trolley containing an old radio valve, telescope and a shaver
Klaus – you taught me a valuable lesson in the Gel Navbar thread. “CAD grey” is not my style now! You threw me when you asked me to turn up the brightness of the lights – they were full red and green already. I added some flare effects to give the illusion of brightness – hope it works!
Cheers!

That's my boy!

SOrry, I looked at the first image posted when I wrote that! Now you've overdone it, and it does not gel with the realism of the whole. The second posting is fine.

Klaus... I did wonder about the bright lights but I was game for trying it
You're right - it didn't look right at all so it's back to the way it was.
Still, it was a worthwhile exercise in it's own right to make something look brighter than it actually is
Cheers!

The second one looks realistic. The third attempt is a bit off looking now!!! The lights on the second one have this "on" look, a slight glow to them that tends to make you think the product is ON!! The third is like Braun on drugs (this is your shaver...This is your shaver on drugs.... ) a bit much on the flared lights.
I like 2, it is the perfect one of the bunch!!!
