for the links and the help!!!

Funny, about that link to the book Really funny, actually.........I bought that one and Adobe Classroom last night. No, I don't have the money but it was one of those situations where you need help, the web is great but not instantaneous so...........hence the investment. The Adobe Classroom book is really like someone holding your hand. Comes with a CD with pre designed sites that YOU build as you are turning the pages (get that yellow highlighter ready ).

I did not like Adobe for the longest time. I thought they were too big for their britches but now I am sold that they are who they are because of the hard work they put into their products. Some are crapy (Elements comes to mind right off the bat!! Crash, crash, crash, FREEZE then Crash! and Acrobat Reader WAS crapy, now it's fine with the release of 5.X)

If it wasn't for a client giving me this as a gift I wouldn't be using it, I don't have that kind of money!!! I am a hairdresser and she is a client that just happens to work for Adobe, I live in the Silicon VAlley area. She missed 2 very long appointments (color and cut, about 3 hours total, so 6 hours of my time wasted at about $120.00, plus tip, so about $300.00 out the door) so she brought me the "pack" of Adobe GoLive and Live Motion to make up for the lost appointments and to say she was sorry!! I was shocked and thrilled at the same time, but here I am!!!

So now I am really in it!! I bought $80.00 worth of books and that is incentive to really get serious.

So can you tell me about this "Magic" book a bit. I read the first few pages and it states that you should have some working knowledge of either GoLive 5 or 6 in order to use the book, so then I was a bit depressed that I bought this book considering that I don't know ANYTHING about web design or HTML!!! Can I make use of it or should I return it, in YHO???

Thanks much for the other links I will surely check them out!!

Well, to tell you the truth, I started Golive without the book, I figured it out myself for the most part. You see, Adobe makes almost all the GUIs of there products as similer as possible. Thus, when you try out another Adobe product, the learning curve is drammitcally decreased, a very smart move on there part. Only problem is that in your case you don't have any prier experiance with there line of products... If you have absolutly no idea how to start, I would suggest something like Golive for Dummies, or something along the lines of that. That will teach you the basics, but nothing more. If you have a decent library you can easily find some material there, even a Golive 5 book will work for the most part. I have found a plethora of reading material at my local library, everything from Lightwave to Photoshop, and even things like Gimp (a lesser none photo tool). I would start there, also go to google.com and just try searching for Golive tutorials, you will be surprised how much you can find online.
Congrads on getting all those Adobe programs, boy did you luck out, that package is worth about a grand!
PS, If you dont mind my asking, what brings you into web/graphics design?(Being that you are a hair dresser)

Poor boy!! He, he, he!!

When I was a boy, I'm now 41, I collected comics, loved Marvel's Defenders the best and wanted to be a comic book illustrator, the book was illustrated by Sal Buscema (John Buscema, his brother, just passed away, very famous for doing "Conan the Barbarian" a Black and White magagazine that Marvel published). I started drawing "Nighhawk" and the "Valkyrie" (two Defenders in the book) but I was tracing more at first, then drawing. So I became an artist, my calling called, so I answered. My Mom presented me with an art "kit" that very Christmas, it was great, had everything from drawing to painting stuff in it, I STILL have the case that it came in (I store all my sketch books in it from over the years) Through the years I have done everything from comic book illustration, to comic book writing (nothing published I'm sorry to say) paintings ranging from oil to airbrush and 1 sculpture (Pan the Greek God). Then I got a computer, at the time my allergies to paint were getting so bad I dared not to even try (tried a mask, expensive sucker, to no avail, lung infections, ect.....) so I tried out graphics programs here and there. Then I got my first Gateway computer, it came with Corel Draw that also has PhotoPaint. That was really cool. Over the years I have tried out many programs. I LOVE XaraX, PhotoPaint and PhotoImpact. All highly versital programs, but there was something missing.......I see these web sites out there and I wanted to put one up so I can display all the works that I have done. So I began to play with the idea about 1 1/2 years ago, tyring out various programs, mostly affordable or free. Nothing held my interest untill this happened. Now that I have my "Adobe Classroom GoLive 6" book I think I can safely say that I will be "pointing and shooting" my little brains out for some time to come!!!!

Hairdressing is a great way for me to still be artistic but actually get my bills paid, and I'm a VERY good hairdresser, I could have done Hollywood very easily but I don't like "fake" and Hollywood is as fake as you can get, what's worse, so are most of the people in that area!! No thanks!!

Don't ya just love stories!!

I really like that first link you posted for me. That was a really good one that I bookmarked. So thanks again!!!!

Hi Richard,

I consider myself a GoLive expert (I better, since I work for Adobe!) and love to talk about the app. My co-authors and I have put up a Web site with lots of tips on how to use GoLive 5 and GoLive 6. The tips and tutorials are free.

While you're there check out the links page for lots of other great GoLive sites.

For fantastic support, consider joining the GoLive Talklist hosted by Blue World. Here'e the URL to the info about it:
