Hi,
I am a rather passive member of the group, but I dare asking a little help to achieve a kind of watercolour effect using the tools included with xara (or for that matter, also with corel draw 7 or even webster.)

I have seen many good examples of artwork with subtle changes in colour shades. How do you do this, overlaying transparent or gradient filled objects?

To illustrate what I am meaning, here is an attached illustration (this one was created with illustrator 9's gradient mesh.)

Thanks,

Joanot

Hello Joanot

We do not talk about Illustrator in this forum

You should post this in the Xara Gallery conference because Tao Jones hangs out there and is the master of the watercolor effect.

Xara does not have a gradient mesh but can create a four-color fill.

To achive the soft waltercolor edge effect try adding transparency, and add some edge feathering

See the Feathering thread.

And when you add transparency, you can experiment with Fractal Clouds and Fractal Plasma as the transparency method. And using transparency you can apply layers upon layers of transparency just you would if you were painting in watercolor, reducing the amount of feathering when you want the layers to be sharper.

I see, thanks, Mr. Priester.
Had I been more familiar with the forum(s) I should have noticed

I have searched Tao Jones' posts, and his art is absolutely amazing. Of course there I will find lots of answers, not to mention inspiration.

By the way, I seldom use Illustrator, I prefer CorelDraw + Webster. That's what I have. I just wondered how to recreate those effects --sure the answer is in the Tao (Jones.)

Thanks a lot-

Joanot.
