I have to go with #2 also. Dynamic, elegant, harmonious. And I prefer the typeface in #2.

#8 is 2nd choice, but it doesn't draw me in in the same way.

#3 and #4, I prefer in thumbnail version.

Good work as usual, Gary. :>)

    Gary -

I'm also in the camp preferring the #2 logo. While I do prefer that logo over your other choices, it does not scream builders or femininity in any particular way, other than the flowing of the leaves indicating a softness, which is often associated with the feminine.

You explanation of how the three women came up with the name Branwen is interesting. Branwen appears to also be a mythical welsh goddess and has the meaning "white raven". Perhaps that history and meaning could be folded into a logo as well.... Below are a few links regarding Branwen.

As usual - you've produced another nice set of logos!

    Hi Gary
Another vote for design 2. It is classy and simple. I dont think that it matters that it doesn't say "women" or "building" as such. How many good logos actually convey exactly what the company is about? Its an image that willl be associated with the company, and as such it says class, elegance.
    My 2 zlotys worth.

    The winner is...

#7. The hammer and tulip. Problem is the hammer was an image downloaded from the Amazon.com website (they sell tools too) and so now I have to purchase and photograph that hammer which runs about $50 US.

The same manufacturer also makes a framing hammer which is very similar and that I think I will use as it will be appropriate to building. (The tulip is a stock image that I already had).

Thanks for all your comments and direction.

It is always a tremendous reality check.

The Stiletto is a CLASSIC! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Gary ... I'm usually very conservative when it comes to logo's, but #7 would look fabulous on a billboard. I Love it!

From a practical point of view ... #2 would pass all of my tests.

OklaEd... I would be 54 for 0 instead of 0 for 54 if I got to pick a winner - after the winner was announced... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The good news is that the client DID pick a winner - so both Gary and the client end up as winners.

Sometimes the client does not know what they are doing... (bless their heart... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif) Little did I know that the people that pay you to do something, actually have a say in what you are doing http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif - until I was subjected to it myself. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

The world would be such an amazing place if clients just listened... and obeyed direct orders... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I'm sure that #2 (in one form or another) will make someone very happy...

So does this mean that a logo for a construction company run by men would show a hammer in front of a glass of beer? Or perhaps a football? Think of all the fun we could have playing with those possibilities!
