I like the candy colors you've used in the back row of houses and this piece has a friendly feel to it
Thanks,
These are the colors that the cottages are painted. I was just enhancing a photograph. I made a painted layer and blended it back to the original photo. I thought it made the colors much more richand saturated. Rich
I used the wing as a mask in Painter, and separated a clone. Rich
Looks like mosaic work ... on the wing .. the wing is excellent by the way - is that a small part of a larger work ? It has inspired me seeing this wing creation of yours. mmm painter mmmmm must get back into it more mmm
Thanks Sunn-ra,
This was the aft wing of a yellow dragonfly. I found it in a pool of water. I photographed the wings, but has having difficulty getting eveerything in focus. So, I decided to scan the wings at 1200 DPI. I like drawing wings, but the images are usually only shadows. I have to guess at the shapes. This one was very nice to draw. I have drawn with line many times, but here I drew the cell shapes in Xara X1. The veins match in size. I saved to PNG, and then PSD for loading into Painter. The shaping was from AutoFX Gel. I have quite a few wing drawings in vector. I have started on the front wing. It has about as many cells as the aft wing.
So, I drew the cells in X1, and subtracted the shapes to get the matrix. Then saved the cells to PNG to load into Photoshop to get a PSD. As a PSD file, it was loaded into Painter to create a selection. I liked the way Painter adjusted the pixels, and using the selection, I could eliminate the painting beyond the cells.

A transparent wing done with a shell pearl reflection map. I was trying to get a realistic appearance.
Nice drawing.

great wing since we are the only two on the forum I thought I would just post the drawing I did today - inspired by leaves and twigs around the land where I live
