Hi, I'm new to Xara3D, and trying to figure how to add it to my Banner...

I have a banner I made in PhotoImpact, and Animated Letters,I made in Xara3D. I would like to add the Animated Letters from Xara3D to the Banner in PhotoImpact...I don't know how to go about it, would you be able help me??, Please!

I spent 3 days working on this, and just can not get it right http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I have PhotoImpact up with the banner...
    and
Xara3D up with the animated letters I want to put on the banner...

This is where I'm, and I can't go any further

I don't know If I'm doing the saving all wrong or what.

Any help would be very appreciate.

    Thank you,
    Lorraine

    Hi LF and welcome,

I don't know about PhotoImpact so I'm not sure this will help.If the banner you created in PhotoImpact is a static bitmap (gif, jpg or png) import it into your Xara3d animation as the Background Texture. Then export the animation. It should now have the two images in one file.

    Hi Egg,

First off, I want to thank you for the welcome, and thank you very very much for your reply, but I'm so frustrated, that I'm about ready to through this program out the window, even though I paid over $60.00 for it http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Why do they make it so hard to save, I have been on this program all last night, and the night before, and almost all day today, trying to figure it out.

With your reply, even though I still didn't understand it, I was able to get my Banner into Xara3D, with the screen shot you put in your reply, that was a big help...the reason was, because when you said 'import', I kept going to Import in 'Files'and when nothing worked, I kept looking at your screen shot, and wonder where the 'Import was in there, until I realized I had to find it on my hard drive...I guess you can tell that I haven't done anything like this before..LOL and I'm very slow at comprehending what is explained to me. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Well, even though I have one thing settled, I have another big problem...How do I save the Animated Font I made..I made three of them and lost them. I was sure I did it right, and when I couldn't find them, I saw them on the left hand side, at the bottom of 'Files' Boy! I was happy, until I tried to use them, and it wanted me to save again, and when I canceled, or tried to save, they disappeared, gone http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Can you please explain, how do I save them, and what file are they suppose to go into??

I sure hope you can, I even went to the help file, but I just don't understand it.

Thank you so very much. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi, LF, welcome to the boards.

Here's the order of events I get from reading your message.

Open a new project

Bring in the banner you made as a background texture.

Try to bring in 3D text you previously made in XARA by selecting it from the "File" drop down menu.

Xara asks you if you want to save project

You're stumped and frustrated http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Is that correct?

If so, here's how you resolve the problem by doing a slight reordering of events and eliminating a step or two.

    Ready? Here we go:

Open Xara

From the "File" pulldown menu, open up the 3D Text file that you're interested in.

Now bring in the banner you made as a background texture.

Move the 3D text to the desired location within the banner. I don't remember the keystroke sequence, but if you look in the help section of Xara, it will tell you how to actually pick up the entire block of text and move it to anywhere on the page. If you like where it is you don't have to move it at all. Just pointing out an additional feature.

Change anything that needs to be changed (animations, bevels, etc.) Or leave as is if you like.

Hit the save button

Jump up and down excitedly and do the chicken dance because you've just crossed a major hurdle. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Of course, if none of this is correct because I've misinterpreted your request-repost and we'll get you straightened out.

BTW....the files you see in the "File" dropdown menu are the most recently opened files. The reason Xara keeps asking you if you want to save when you go through the steps you described is that you've instructed Xara to open a "new" project and it wants to give you the opportunity to save what you're working on before it does it.

    Make sense?

    Holler if you need us.

Art, it took me 5 min to stop from laughing, and settle down, so I can try to comprehend your instructions, in fact I don't even know what I said http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif ...LOL

No, I haven't done the chicken yet http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well I'm printing this out, and going to try it, and if it doesn't work right now...That's OK, because my stress level just droped...Now I have my patience back http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Thank you so much
    Lorraine

P.S. I'll let you know what the outcome is, and if I can't get it to work tonight, there is always tomorrow.

WOW!! I wish I found this Fourm, the first day I downloaded Xara3D http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well, not quit ready for the chicken dance yet, but almost. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

BTW I couldn't find anything in Help about moving the text, but there was something about moving the shadow, and it was the same thing for moving the text...'hold down on the ALT key while moving the text with the mouse'

Now another most important part, it's all setting here in Xara3D, and all set up to be save to a place where I can find it, and it will still be animated.....Where is this??? and how do I save the work I just did.

I'm so worried I'll loose this also, because I don't know what buttons to push.

What I need to do is, save it some place like 'My pictures' where it will be easy to find, and I need to post it on the a Forum, and still have it animated.

Will this be possible?? I know it's late, and if you don't have time tonight, tomorrow will be just fine, or the next day, I just won't shut the computer down, until I have this banner safe and sound, and working on the Forum.

    Thanks a bunch

    Lorraine,

What is nice about this forum is there are people from around the world who visit here regularly. it is very rare for a question to go unanswered for more than 24 hours. On a good day, and a simple question you can get 4 or five different ways to accomplish what you set out to do within a day.

    PS, Welcome to Talkgraphics!

Thanks John for your reply, http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I do understand, because I'm on a couple other Forums, and there all great people that answer your questions when they can. Questions can't always be answered right away, because of many reasons.

Already I have had so much help with something, that I thought I could never get the hang of.

I'm a happy person right now, just learning what I did.

And John, thank you for the welcome http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
