Well it is almost June, and here I am posting a New Years picture... The reason is that I am cleaning up my image folders on my hard drive where I find some old fun stuff.
This picture was made for the frontpage of the local newspaper where I work. They came into my office and said that "Hey, we don't have a picture for the New Years issue! You got free hand and two hours to come up with one!"
So, made a fast sketch, drew the character and scanned it, scanned the photo of the church (the original is actually a daytime photo shot in the fall) and the fireworks are from Corels clipart CD.
The picture was composed entirely in Xara, and I played around with multiple copies of the church where are used different colours and transparencies. The flying character was also coloured in Xara. Then the image was exported as a tif, opened it in Photoshop for finishing and unsharp mask. And it was done in two hours (well, perhaps I passed the deadline by some minutes).
