you have the cheeks of a race car driver?

You do need to use more compression on your images. You can go up to 50% sometimes without losing a whole lot of detail and your viewers won't go gray waiting for the images to load.

These image came from Xara, so if there is a way to compress them more, please share.

When you export a JPEG image and after you select the file type and name your image, you get the Export Bitmap Options dialog which by default shows the Palette Options.

Click on the Options tab. You can experiment with the JPEG Quality slider to see how much compression you can get away with.

100% represents no compression and 0% represents the maximum amount of compression. Even 70-80% will produce a much smaller file size compared to no compression.

For images displayed on the Web, you need to find the right ballance of image quality to file size.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll play around with it.

I know I've had it set at 100%. Was looking for quality of image, rather than compression.

    Thanks.

I export all of my jpegs from Xara at 100% and then take them into Photoshop to optimize them. Photoshop can compress jpegs to 1/2-1/3 their size with very little difference in quality.

You may be able to get a similar result using PhotoImpact or other bitmap software.
