Your method is create a seamless tile, duplicate it by a set distance etc? That leads to mistakes. Just create a shape of any size and fill it with a single repeating tile, set it to the required dpi (96 say) is so much easier and foolproof. Why make more work for yourself? And all for 6Kb's.
This is why I can't follow the quest for a larger repeating seamless tile.

    One seamless tile

any method can lead to mistakes if its not done correctly, no method is guaranteed foolproof

I'm not saying my way is better, just an alternative that works for me because I dislike messing about with fills in xara ever since they changed the ground rules 10-15 years ago; that's maybe just me like I said earlier

I did a comparison - I don't see any differences in the result with a normal symmetric tile:

    repeating tile.xar

there are times when a want a variation of the pattern, say two base tiles across but three base tiles down; with the clone method you already have this - ungroup, regroup accordingly, reclone

on a side note, long time ago in the afternoon my gran and my aunt would make their tea differently one putting the milk in first and one not, both would swear the other wrong; apparently this is a common difference of opinion but being a small child and able to get away with such cheek I asked if I could taste both - no discernable difference to me whatsoever

This is how I would tackle this:

My design file: CSS - Seamless Tiling.xar

Do note there is only one image in use.

All shapes need to be Editable Shapes to generate SVGs - it fails for a box so change it with Convert to Editable shapes.

I redesigned the tile to minimise the cut through of key shapes:

The power of this approach is that you can change the shape and the fill just does its job. No calculation involved.
You can reposition the pattern by changing (x,y) between 0 and 96.
The repeat size and spacing is the current 46, which I chose at random; you should use 192 to return to the original.
Making the tile itself an SVG is what you should aim for as then there are no images at all, all vector.

I agree with Egg though, a seamless repeating tile is a seamless repeating tile ... making a bigger multiple version of the same thing is pointless.

    no issue with that

just debating how to do the repeating as and when required

Lightbulb Re: How to create a seamless pattern from a seamless tile?

I reworked the tile into an SVG and used the SVG as the pattern.
I am bypassing all the detail and just providing a zipped file for you to unpack.

    tile.svg was processed through SVGOMG.

To show the crispness, I removed the background and so it is see-through, allowing for a coloured background to be easily altered.

To measure a tile in a big tilefilling u can can click on it and get the dpi.
to avoid the antialaising stripes in the tiles, i switch the antialaising off while producing it.
of course it makes sense to use a higher dpi number.
vector tile filling would be nice :-)

forgot, after switching off the antialaising you can switch it on again. ;-)
no sicknature. for nearly 20 years. omg ...
For many problems there are simple and easy-to-understand solutions that do not work.
