Not stupid, Larry. Dropbox periodically changes their UI to go from mysterious to impossible.
When you land at Dropbox, forget what you see in the center of your screen. Click the more button (the ...), and then choose Download.
From here, just to show you the zip file isn't empty, I told my browser to let Windows Open the file instead of just downloading it to a place on hard disk.
See? Now, I use Firefox and WinRAR to open zip files; so don't get disoriented!
