seams so easy:
click edit
click style
make changes
but nothing happens in preview - all colors are the same
and
how can I preview all the options
do I have to install each one to see what it looks like in action?

NavBars come on two layers and use Theme colours.
Solo MouseOff layer and on the Colour Bar, open the Colour editor, select a Theme colour and swirl around.
Do the Same for MouseOver.
Double-click the NavBar and click the Ungroup to edit graphics and you then have full control over the button design.
You have to select all the buttons and use the context menu to re-create the NavBar.
The Help is very comprehensive.

- thanks
- I DO use HELP a LOT
- to find things I can not see how to do
- edit navbar is 'obvious'?? as the context says EDIT
- then context says EDIT STYLE
- and there it is!
- just checked HELP and even there - not clear to me how to do differently than I was
- tried what you suggested -- just changs the color of the background areas and text -- but not the options in the menu?
thanks again
If all your buttons are the same width, then hold down Ctrl and click on the rectangle or the text (to select one object in a group) for the HOME button. Any changes you make to the home button are applied to the other buttons.

yes -- that works for changing text color and background color of the text
but not the button itself of mouseover effects
thanks (getting closer)
Actually, the MouseOver layer is visible because it is above the MouseOff layer. To edit the MouseOff layer, click the S (isolate) icon next to the MouseOff layer.

repeat of orignal request
when I insert a nav bar from XARA gallery
the few I tried
I do NOT like the colors
so I want to edit the colors of ALL items
background color
text (font and color)
both for non hover and then to change "all" for hover
ie background, text font (and add BOLD) and text color
And as replied to your original request.
You Ungroup to edit graphics in the NavBar dialog.
Just pick the HOME button and edit colour, text styles, shadows, just about anything.
If the button covers two layers then you may need to remove (Soft-)Groups if you cannot Edit inside or use use ALT+Ctrl+Select to get to an element or pick from the Page & Layer gallery or even Use Solo mode.
Any unpicking needs to be reversed.
Select the modified HOME button and the others and then right-click > Create Navigation bar.
Perhaps you ought to pick a Button instead and work on that, then use Create Navigation bar with your design.
You can build you button from scratch as well.

I think you are confusing the color edits for the sub menus. This feature gives some control over the sub menus, color, font, size and style. But this does not effect the nav bar itself. Only the sub menus that appear under or next to the nav bar buttons and only if there are pages linked under a specific button.
