Hi, it's me again, and in a better mood this time http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I haven't received my disks for Xaea3D yet, and I was wondering about one of the tools...(not sure that's what you call it)...It's the 'Baseline Shift', it's grayed out.

Would that come with the disk, when I get it, or is it an add on, that I have to purchase ??

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Lorraine,

The baseline shift is not greyed out on my text tool. the Baseline shift moves the lower line closer to the top line, or further away.

The real fancy things some of the guys do around here involve shapes and the baseline shift to position them so the shapes touch.

    Hi Lorraine,

The Baseline Shift is grayed out until you select a letter or line/lines of text.

    Hi John.

Hmmmm, no wonder they called it baseline shift, I thought it was something altogether different.

I thought it would give it a stair step effect. Would you by any chance know how that is accomplished?

I found out, you have to highlight the fonts, before you can use the baseline shift, otherwise it's grayed out.

Thanks John, and I appreciate the help you're giving me.

Lorraine, you can use the Baseline Shift to create the stair step effect. Select one letter and adjust the baseline. Increase the selection to the adjoining letter. Adjust the baseline. Continue increasing the selection and adjusting the baseline until you have the stair step the way you want it.

You are most welcome Lorraine. I was going to suggest the same thing as Bill, but he beat me to it.

Lorraine, you can also respond to more than one of us in a single post. Saves space/time for people on dialup. Some of our fellow artists live way back in the sticks and can not get broadband yet. So anything we can do to make life a little easier on these folks is much appreciated. (They also start whinning if you post lots and lots and lots) http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Thank you so much, John, and Soquili,

I found what I was looking for, http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I had to highlight each font individually to than use the Baseline Shift, to do what I wanted to do. It would have taken me forever to figure that out, with out your help. I appreciated it very much. Boy! I'll be glad when I get the manual.

It hard to do something, when it's hidden, until you bring it out, and things start falling in place.

John, I understand what you're saying, I had dialup for a while, and sure was glad, when cable finaly came to our area.

    Thanks again
    Lorraine
