we have some shellac 78's about the place, probably worth a bit but unplayable [because they are probably worth a bit] even if we had a 78 turntable...

I remember owning quite a few of those pictured Steve (including APACHE). Although I don't remember seeing the triangular centre of the LONDON record.

seems there are various names for this thinummyjig - we just called it a '45 insert' and that's what they were sold as where I lived...

Amazon sells them "45 rpm adaptors" or "spindle adaptors". Just ask DJ>MasterBlaster.

I think [long time ago] what we called an 'adaptor' was what you put on your dansette [portable record player] so you could play punched out 45's without any of them needing an insert ...

The Bang and Olufsen turntable (Beocentre 7000) I had at the time, had a wide adapter on a spring on a standard spindle, so if the record had a centre it would just depress the adapter, and if not it sat around it.

    Bob.
Bob, it looks to me like an insert for 45rpm records. Neet image.

I dunno guys it still looks like a insert for a 45rpm record to fit a 33 1/3 spindel to me. Wouldn't a throwing weapon have sharper points?
