Ya some really good ones in there Bill ...especially for the modellers.I cant wait to try out SPD,which is micro poly displacemnt, which just means to use a displacment map {whice moves the points up and down physically etc with sahdes of grey in the map} you had to to make your mesh so sub divided it wasnt funny, but now you can add mega detail to 1 polygon...oooh I cant wait, means I can have physical bumps and scales on my Dragon as opposed to a bump map which you can see is flat under certain camera angles or close ups.

I also like the cloth and the other new bits as well.

It does sound like worthwhile new features. My little puter hasn't enough RAM, etc. really for this ap according to specs, and so for me it's a question of do I continue to upgrade this ap even while I'm not using it (hoping to get a better puter later which can handle it)? I wonder what the upgrade from 8.5 will cost???

Yea, v9 sounds like everything I imagined this upgrade to be...

It's like they took the best aspects of WIngs3D and Silo, then added some ZBrush stuff for topping Well, for the modeling tools anyways...

Once this version is released and played with a bit by the community at large we will then know more on just how these new features really work within the over all scheme of things, but yea... sounds great

    Thanks for posting this Stu

Maya, I would contact your local area Maxon rep for upgrade details
