Edit Pre set Navigation Bar

Hi,
This may be a simple question, but how can I edit a pre set navigation bar? I would like to change the button colours and font type colour. I can only find editing for the pop-up menu style. I am a new user to Xara migrating from serif webplus.

It depends on if all the buttons are a fixed width or change with the length of the copy.

First thing to try is to hold down the Ctrl key and click on the Home button rectangle. You may receive a warning that you have to turn off Adjust Button Widths, and if so click Nav Bar Dialog and uncheck this feature.

What is visible is the MouseOver button state. Now Ctrl click on the rectangle for the Home button and edit the color. You can select from the colors at the bottom of the screen or click the color wheel icon to the left of the colors and edit the MouseOver color in the Color Editor.

The color for the other buttons will automatically change. You can also modify the text for the Home button, including color, font, style, etc. and this will change the other buttons as well.

To edit the MouseOff button, open the Page & Layer Gallery and click the eye icon to the right of the MouseOver Layer. This makes that layer invisible and lets you edit the Home MouseOff button.

If you want to edit the button text, the actual words, change links etc. double click on the Nav Bar to open the Nav Bar Properties menu. Once in the menu (or any Xara menu), press Help for context sensitive help and options.

Most navbars from the design gallery have named colours, so another method is to drag the named colour 'Theme 1' or 'Theme 2' or 'Light Text' into the Colour Editor and adjust the colours as required.
