Text underlined and with strikethrough - help please!!!

I upgraded to Premium 11 today.

On opening my latest project I found random amounts of text displayed with a white background rather than transparent. This text was using style xr_tl normal_text scattered in text boxes rather than the Normal Text style that I thought I had defined for whole text boxes. It took several attempts to persuade the offending text to adopt the Normal Text style I wanted.

Can I remove the offending xr_tl normal_text style? Help says unused styles are automatically removed. The style has not been removed implying instances still remain. I am concerned that text with coloured backgrounds may appear again.
