Actually, after reading your post I thought it a good idea and immediately proceeded to apply a reflection on the hood (bonnet) of the car.
I have noticed in my extensive research regarding lighting on cars in various positions and lighting that this effect varies quite a bit. But I think your idea definitely adds to the overall appeal, so I promptly added it.
I've attached the car with my version of the effect, but also a shot of two cars from the web showing different effects depending on lighting more than color of the car.
