Pen Tool Disappearing on reopen of program

Another one of the continual annoyances of XARA (like the defective default COPY & PASTE) function that make the program a pain to use.

If you want to fix this easily open REGEDIT (if you can on your PC).
Hit CTRL-F and look for "ShowPenToolOnFlyout"
Left-click the name twice and change the value to 1.
Close REGEDIT and it should be fixed.

it's good to be reminded what the actual registry change is, for those who prefer the direct approach and have a meaningful and working registry backup policy in place;

I just got around to running XaraReg to allow the fly out for the pen tool, but I get this error message when I launch the Photo Graphic Designer 10.

Otherwise, I don't have a problem opening the program.

I did the same for Web Designer Pro 10 and had no problem starting the program and the fly out worked.

Ron, you can't use XaReg whilst Xara is running. The background of that screen seems to imply that you have Xara running.

With Xara closed, I open Xareg and select Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 10, then select the fly out option for the pen tool. Xara is still closed. At the top right of XarReg is a tab that says: "Run Selected Program". So I click on that tab and then get the error message.
I did the exact same thing with Web Designer Pro 10 and it worked.

does it work if, with xara closed, you use xareg to make the change and then close xareg without using the run selected program tab - only then open the program afterwards

Tried that too, but no it doesn't work. I've attached screen captures of what I selected in Xareg before closing it, then one of PGD10 when I next opened it. Still no Pen tool on the fly out.
