I've been using these a long time for their ease in 'knocking' up a quick but nice looking site. Although Webstyles great for knocking up navbars (and expanding thumbnails, I only use it for those two)sometimes I'll use the navbar creator in X if I want a different looking or graphic based navbar. Most of the templates in Webstyle even with some tweaking get a little bland looking after a while and I just fancy making something different, X is especially handy if you want to put some kind of graphic background behind too.

I know a loooooong time ago one of the biggest requests here (probably two years or more) was for a template creation/export facility within X to suit Webstyle. Most of us here, probably, want to make our own templates and use the functionality of webstyle to creat the java and embed them.

So Xara, is that something on the horizon? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

    sorry Stewdeva,

I don't think I would ever have a use for webstyle. Matter of fact, I do not even use the navbar too that much... So, making a coloring book website creator out of xara is not something I would pay money for.

    Just my 2 cents worth... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Although JohnR may not have a use for it, it might help Xara lever Webstyle customers onto XaraX. There is a big market for, to be blunt, cheap and cheerful websites and freelancers on low rates who knock these up. The kind of site a local builder has.

Webstyle is good for this market, and for getting some creative juices going, and being able to add to the templates would be really neat. I would pay for it...

I'm with Stewdeva on this one. Great products but no connectivity. In the days of CorelXara there used to be a method...
And what about using X3D in XX? All that excellent lighting?

    Exactly my point Simon.

If I want to spend 3 months doing a biggish site, along with page after after page after page...of minor changes a client wants that take up time, and then they don't pay until you finally threaten to pull the site, then they ask for thirty days after that.....you get the picture, then the 'little sites, like for our builder friends, knocked up and uploaded for a hundred quid or so, pays the bills. The facility would help with this type.

Also Tony, I never thought of X3D rendering in X.... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I think what Tony was referring to is why can't Xara X1 have the same lighting effects as X3D has?? One of the features on my personal wish list:

3D lighting and bump map support!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I actually just bought Webstyle 4 to further support Xara Group Ltd. a bit more but I'm not sure what to do with it. All those templates are really not to my likeing but I think you can change colors and what not but are you saying that your own created elements can't be imported in or replace other elements?

The idea of creating one's own template would be nice too!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Of course I think this thread really belongs in the Webstyle forum! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

"coloring book website creator" . I suggest a colouring book of some description is where most if not ALL of us first started to learn and advance our skills. I also have purchased "Other" Xara products to help fly the flag .
Only my 2 cents (AUD) !

Some of us where able to "cut there teeth" on HTML before there where "coloring books". Once you "sling the code", you will not go back. Believe me I have tried. Can not take those programs more than 5 minutes without the frustration factor making me delete the durn program from my 'puter. Gimme Xara and wordpad and I will do as large a site as required by the customer.

I own one or two other xara programs. (All except webstyle - Too much change to want to risk deleting it).

But then again, I have been playing with 'puters longer thatn most users (30+ years).

I've tried to create templates for Webstyle, but could never get them to work. You can use Webstyle to create something similar to what you want, then create your own graphics in XaraX and replace the ones from Webstyle in your web page.

John - I still use notepad for most of my work. No real web work, just some asp to give the shipping department to query the SQL database on our shipping system. The company bought FrontPage for me, and I think it's still in the box somewhere. I tried it a few times and then un-installed it. I can't say I really miss the days of punched cards and tape, but they were fun in their day. The text art we used to do on the teletype made some pretty good calendars. My favorite was the nude sitting on a stool.
