default program designer pro 10

I have both designer pro9 and 10 when I open some files they open pro9 instead of pro10. Is this because both 9 & 10 use DesignerPro.exe? Can I rename one of the exe?

Welcome Wallace.

You need to register XP10 for .web & .xar files. This usually pops up when you first open a newer version. However I don't know how to reactivate this window as I've unchecked the "Check each time Xara starts" option.

Another way around it would be to open file manager to a file containing a .xar file:
Right click and select "Open with"
Then "Choose default program.."
In the 'Open with' widow select 'Browse'
Go to Program Files / Xara / Xara Designer Pro X10
Select DesignerPro.exe

Do the same if you have any .web files
