I'm using a pattern fill to fill a rectangle, but when I resize the rectangle the fill resizes too. I want the fill it to remain the same size.
I'm sure they must be an easy way to accomplish this but I haven't found out how?

if you use clipview for your rectangle, you can select the clipping rectangle and the fill separately [in the layer gallery] and resize them separately - if you want the fill to stay in the centre hold down shift key as you drag the clipping rectangle, or use the percentage resize on the info bar - however the fill will not repeat, but you said you wanted it to stay the same size, so that should be ok
EDIT - Phil has come up with the shortcut - clipview still has it's uses though, for example you can move the fill half in- half out of the container, and add things

When you have started to resize the rectangle press the - key on the numeric keypad.

right [assuming you have a numeric keypad of course ] - thanks phil - appears you can hold shift as well as '- key' to constrain the fill to the centre.... [numlock has to be on of course]
If you don't have a numeric keypad you can use Customise Key Shortcuts to map that function (it's called "Toggle Transform fills") to a different key.
