Dear Jens,
you seem to heve overseen the true professional; the one that buy Tablet PC's or Wacom's Cintiq.
I have a Toshiba M200 Tablet and I wouldn't ever draw without it.

I too have a Logitech thumb trackball, which I use — like the tablet — during RSI periods. Perhaps your hand is bigger than mine, so it fits better. For me, it's never been comfortable, and I always feel like I'm trying to rein in a wild horse.

Professional for what? CAD? These guys will never use a tablet pc, they prefer the A3 size tablets. Illustrators? 98% still use a notebook or desktop, because the tablet computers are relatively new on the market with considerably less computing power and screens too small to really work with over a long period of time. Why limit yourself to a tiny work area?
In addition, the poll form features only five choices...
I'm using a Logi trackball and a Wacom Intuos2 on a desktop and the notebook with a 1680x1050 resolution - an ideal combination of both worlds ;-}
