Hi,
I wonder you could, with an update, include the new file format export to Xara Designer Pro X9.
Actualy I would like to have the DXF file format export to could use with cutting plotter Silhouette CAMEO.
Could you do that, please.

Do you not think that this file type is outdated and replaced with DWG? Will your plotter not work with this file type or PDF. All of these file types are meant to be able to exchange with different software, machines and viewers and the first 2 for CAD programmes. Think how many 2D vector file formats there are then include the 3D vector formats then think what software makers pay to have the ability to read/write to these formats. Sorry I think there are too many but I would agree for many in your line of biz. that DWG should be included.
Design is thinking made visual.
Hi Albacore and Sheff,
In the same way I could ask
- Isn't XARA Designer Pro X9 outdated because it does not use
the DXF file format most used in CAD software?
Actualy I have no idea what type of files are outdated or not.
The important thing to me is that I need the specifik type of file to specifik job and that's it.
This is not my caprice nor I want to mess with you.
It is simply because the cutting software "Silhouette Studio" does not accept any other type of file format.
Please see enclosed copy from the Slhouette Studio user manual.
Therefore I ask just for what I need nothing else.
By the way, when my customers comes to me and ask for some graphic job they want me to do for them
I do not answer - Don't you thing it is outdated and passe - I just do what they need with good quality.
They are happy and I have satified customers who spread the word of my good customer service.
Keep up the great work!

you probably know this, but if you upgrade to silhouette studio designer edition then you get SVG capability [according to their site]
Dwg is autodesk proprietary format, so $$
Dxf is a cad exchange format developped by autodesk.
For 2d, both are equally good and supported.

PDF format is property of Adobe and is also $$$
but it is included in XARA without problem.
or is PDF free file format?
Pawel
reading PDF is AFAIK free, but editing/creating is not - the cost of the license to do this will be included in the purchase price of the xara program - commercially speaking this is worth the slightly higher asking price for most purchasers as PDF is one of the most common file types..
Consequently the cost for the access to editing/creating DXF file formats can be included in purchase of XARA as well.
Therefore falls the statement against including the DXF file format in XARA because of $$$ as it is a cad exchange format developped by autodesk.
Thus it is as simple as includiing PDF file format and this make my request of including the DXF file format in XARA completely adequate.

A lot more use is made of PDF by a lot more people. Indeed, we all use PDF at some stage. It is ubiquitous. Do we have to pay extra for Xara because of a CAD thing? Nice for you if it was included though. Perhaps Xara could deal with such things as they do the extra templates ... if you need it you pay extra for it.
Yes I know that's probably unworkable, I'm just saying!
