Keep listening to the Oblivion soundtrack! You're inspired and it is clearly a labor of love. What you have shown us so far looks beautiful and professional to me.

Are we collectively anywhere on this after a September break?

Seriously? Should we move forward by someone directing us and handing out work?

This is just my opinion, but I really don't think picture fonts are all that useful most of the time. I do like Frank's idea of the Cherokee font though, so that gets my vote. Frank have you done any more on it?
Gare I like your font ideas too but somehow I don't think they fit what we are trying to do here, particularly the blackletter style, while I like them and I think they should be done just not for this project.

I'm just getting 2% anxious that this collaborative tribute doesn't get stalled.

    Whatever it becomes.

I was wondering where we are on this project. Kinda looks like it is stalled.

    Larry and All—

I'm thinking I'm going to take this decidedly stalled effort private: IOW, I've got a collection of Native Cherokee patterns and I will trace them off and make a decorative typeface out of it. And I will first present the typeface as a gift to the Cherokee Nation on behalf of TalkGraphics and our Spirit Guide Bill Taylor, God Bless him.

If anyone would like to continue collaborating on this thread, more power to you, but MikeW hasn't check in here publicly in a while and Big Frank hasn't been here in months, and these are the only two typography-savvy members I know of, so I'll do what I've always done with typefaces. I design them, build them, and then give 'em away.

If any one would like to help me trace off the patterns, PM me, okay? I'm not going to begin until I have a major project out of the way in April. The above is but a small example of the native art I've been able to collect.

    My Best,

    Gary

That looks to be a decidedly different and attractive type face Gare.
