Timed out issue when publishing

Hello All,

I am new to this site. Thanks for any help in advance. First I am using Xara MX Premium 8. I recently added a pdf. file to my website for upload and when I went to publish, I get "Operation Timed Out". If I place my password in the web properties box (Publish tab), I then get the upload bar to show but it doesn't go past 0%. If I enter the PW manually (like I usually do on the pop up box) nothing but the error message shows. I read the many useful posts here and performed the Debug Feature with the results listed below. I am very sorry that your first post is so problematic.

There have been a rash of FTP publishing problems that have been caused my a change Microsoft has made to Windows.

There is a patch but only for the 9 versions which kind of fixes this. They are still working on a second patch.

What I suggest is to publish your site to a folder on your desktop, then use an FTP program such as Filezilla to move all the contents of the folder including the index_htm_files folder to your directory on your web host's server. Don't publish the new folder on your desktop though, just the entire contents.

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested and still no success. Then I decided to call HostGator, the company that manages my IP to see if the problem was at the "end of the road and not in my garage". Well, they said they moved their server a few days ago and that changed my host address. The email notification went to the HQ Company that has the account for my domain and I did not get the info. I was publishing using the numerical address, but have now switched to using my domain name so any changes of that numerical address in the future won't affect my end. I thought I would post this in case some one else might have a similar issue when they get the dreaded "Operation Timed Out". Thanks Again.

I use to have the same problems due to my Web-host’s running a Windows Server demanding FTP set in Active mode.
To do that in WD7 and WD9 one have to edit the register value FTPConnetionType to =1 (Active = 1 Passive = 2). You will find this in:

HKEY-CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\WebDesignerPremium\9.0\ Options\Publish

Be avware of XARA have changes this location in 9 v. 9.2.6.30798 to:

HKEY-CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\WebDesignerPremium\9.0\ Options\FTPLibcURL
