When I double click on a group, then it opens in a new window. Can this be disabled so that I get the behavior like in old versions of Xara, i.e. inline editing?

The double click to open an edit inside window has been a part of Xara programs for the last 3(I think) versions. As far as I know there is no way to disable it. The edit inside window is a way to open a group without ungrouping it. In the edit inside window you can move and edit the individual parts of your group as if it were not grouped. You can delete items from the group, add items to the group and you can right click and drag individual items from the edit inside window to another open document. When you are done a quick save (ctrl+s) takes you back to your main document where your group is still a group.

You can disable the double-click entering a new edit window using XaReg:

Oh yeah. You can also select an item directly in a group holding down the ctrl key.
I forgot about XaReg I like the edit inside capabilities so it slipped my mind that there was a registry change.

FYI - XaReg2 doesn't just do that, it does lots of potentially useful things :-)
