Yea, it's great piece of work and Big Frank has not been around for a long while now (notice the date on the post boys?)!!
Never got a chance to know him but seems like a nice fellow as well as ultra talented too!!

Wow that VW beetle is awesome.....They set the bar pretty high....
i hope i can produce something half as good for my first xara design that im currently working on then perhaps work up to this type of skill over time....
Great stuff
Wow, this is an old post. Terrific looking work when done. Interesting thread to read.
I think if you're going to create anything for art you're going to have to have a thick skin. Digital art in particular is still shunned by the traditional art world. Most art organizations and art shows will not allow digital artists to join or show their work. The reasons vary but most of it just boils down to lack of knowledge of the new medium. The more people that understand and work in digital the greater the progress in being an accepted art form. So I say three thumbs up to forums like this and all the creative people that display their work here.
Wish we could still see your VW Splittie here, Frank. Would be nice if you would post it again.

thanks for the plug ron
but at the end of the day this is just acopy
your one came from your imagination
i'm afraid thats where i fall very short of some of the people on here
i am in constant search for things to copy
because nothing original comes to me
mastering a technique is no substitute for originality
i'm attaching the file becaus frankly its good for the old ego
i couldn't find the original jpg but i found the xar file

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
"actually the headlights let it down"
Frank, if you wanted to, you could critique my drawings and come up with the same conclusion. There are aspects that I let go within a drawing just because of tedium.
This why you'll see me re-post so many drawings I've done in the past. I've gone back to edit aspects of the drawing that I know I can now improve on.
In my opinion, your drawing here is one of the all-time greats posted on TG. Anyone, including ourselves, can critique a drawing that is of photo-realism and
tear it apart. Abstract and other types of art might get away with some details that you cannot get away with in photo-realism.
It's the nature of the beast. Sure, if you wanted to bad enough, you could go back and improve on the headlights. But that doesn't take away from the fact
that this is a great rendering.
I'd be proud to hang your pic on my wall.
Larry, go to page 3 and you'll see it. Frank has very considerately posted it again for us to enjoy once more.
By the way Frank, my 1966 Beetle had a name. Rags.
