to be exact .snobby and pretentiously kind manner: behavior that implies that somebody is graciously lowering himself or herself to the level of people less important or intelligent. Me posting this definition is being CONDECENDING Another person on my ignore list, all the ones on my list so far are from the UK hmmmm need to ponder that.
Thanks Jim

I'm fully aware of what condecending means but you are insinuating that member/s replying to the OP's question are taking that attitude were all I can see is helpful advice.

I have been through this thread and like Egg I see no one being condescending until these last three posts. If Jim feels a post is condescending he is welcome to report it.
Let's get back to discussing the question at hand
Jim: Extrusions in Xara are not true vector meshes and the sides can not be mapped however you can fake it. Here are a couple of tutorials you might find helpful
http://xaraxone.xara.com/tutorials/j...ideo-tutorial/
http://www.xaraxone.com/tips-and-tri...ed-extrusions/
there may also be more in the Xara Xone Archives
In the examples posted so far in this thread as far as I can tell, everyone has used the bevel tool rather than the extrusion tool.

Autocorrect: It can be your worst enema.
@jim64, for those who think Jim is being overly sensitive to condescension, (This is a not so private joke) and who among us isn't, I would suggest an emboss instead of an extrusion.
Unfortunately, Extrude treats the sides as solid filled. What you can do is extrude the same shape but as a medium gray, then group the extrusion and apply it as a transparency. Or use an emboss but that does not give you perspective.

Thanks for your answers. I'll improvise

If you have Xara 3D you can do it that way. Perhaps it would be easiest to build it in something like XDPX copy to the clipboard and also export that image. Then in X3D(I don't know if the version matters but I don't think so.) paste the image which will give you a black shape, then apply your exported image as a texture. And this is the result.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
