It must be to do with how users work. There must be a greater need for styles.

I, for one, am of the same opinion as you.
I have no need for the 'Style' option, which takes up a lot of room on the menu bar.
I, personally, would have preferred the 'Style' part to be on a flyout.

But, whilst it's annoying, to keep the feel of all programmes the same, I don't think they were going to change it.

I want both the Styles and the local text formatting controls directly available on the Text controlbar. Or at least on a controlbar I can park on the canvas without having to deal with flyouts.

That's what I said; there must be a greater need for styles.

From what's been discussed previously, the text bar has never been customisable.
I wish it was.
Then, those like me who don't need styles, can make that space available, and others can have what they need.
But, as the flyouts can be changed on the text bar, I'm happy!
