Can anyone tell/help me how can I make a rectangle in Xara X/X1, with two of its corners(same side/diagonal) rounded and other two sharp right angles.

Hi Vivek ... Welcome to TalkGraphics.

There are probably several ways to accomplish this ... here is one.

I'd do it a slightly different way, to protect against the elongated corners which can happen if you stretch a rectangle more in one direction than you do the other:

    Hi Vivek,

I would like to also welcome you to talkgraphics. Here is the third way you can skin the cat...

If you need to be precise, you guide lines and measure it properly. This is just a quickie 5 minute tut.

Ooops, seeing JohnR's post reminded me that I missed out catering for the diagonally opposite corners. Same steps, the only difference is in green. Thanks John, and I'll stop trying to reply to posts at 6.30am http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

No Problem Daniel, I started my post before you got yours in, and had to go back in and edit mine. It is about 7 hours earlier here... so I am premitted to be a little drowsy too...

    Hi,

I personally think this is even a little bit quicker:

    http://stephan.vanderfeest.nl/xarax1-square.gif

    1. Create rectangle of required size
2a. Clone rectangle (1x for adjacent round corners [upper row] 2x for opposite [lower row])
2b. Give topmost rectangle round corners
    3. Select rectangle with square corners
    4. Resize selected rectangle to within frontmost one
(repeat 3 and 4 for opposite round corners [lower row])
    5. Select the whole bunch (2 or 3) of rectangles
    6. Press Ctrl-1 to Add Shapes
(as you can see in the last pictures, this doesn't leave any unwanted vertices)
