I actually saw this come up last night on the oscars and had not heard of it or seen any clips of it, and when it was shown against the other short film nominees last night I instinctively knew it should win; just two seconds worth! just the look if it and the character design is amazing, a real human warmth comes through, there is a certain life in films animated old-style, though I am in awe of some of the computer animated stuff.
I quite enjoyed this.

However, there was a related YouTube video that explains how the animation was created and it looks like it still uses a lot of CGA instead of good old fashioned drawing frame by frame.
Simon's Cat(s) is all hand drawn a frame at a time and is a good example of the animator's art http://www.simonscat.com/Films/

I loved paperman, finished a bit too abruptly, but it was class animation and a nice story.
I think the ending is great, its a short after all. So well animated and directed. A cute little story. Thanks for posting!
Yes, I like the ending but it suddenly jumps into the end-credits and it might have enjoyed a short pause with the pair of them together before doing so.
Ahhh I was trying to watch the ending again but its been removed fro youtube :/
There are other postings of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3WVAR1McO4
Thanks Rik, I liked that.
