    Default Collusion

I mentioned Collusion in a previous post. This is a plug-in for Firefox that shows all the websites that track where you visit and serve up ads based on what you have indicated an interest in.

This site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ lets you opt out of these third party tracking sites.

The blank circles in this screen shot represent many of these sites that would be currently tracking me and creating ads based on sites I have visited and links/content I have clicked on.

Well, something has to pay for the content we see.

But what this does is eliminate the add that appears frequently with the very same product you looked at on some other site. These companies pair your IP address with products and services that you have spent some time reviewing on line and then if the ad on a specific site has this feature, it loads the ad or ads appropriate to what you were looking at. These are now gone from my browsing. But not all ads.
