no problems with non-web documents
web documents I don't do
when something like this happens to some users and not others my gut reaction is to wonder if it is a windows problem
any issues with other programs?

Thanks to Soquili and Angelize for reporting they are experiencing what I call normal behavior ... the software remembering last place a file was saved or exported. I will go back and experiment some more. When I referred to "Save" I should have clarified that it was on Export or Publish ... not just a typical "Ctrl-S" or choosing "Save" from the file menu.
I'll go back in and experiment some more, knowing that some others are NOT experiencing the unwelcome behavior I've reported. I'm optimistic that maybe there's a way around this, and that I can find a way to be as happy with this new version as with everything else from Xara that I've used, including every version of XWD and XDP. THANK YOU!!!
export remembers where I last exported to [which is not necessarily the same place I opened the file from] - and it's always done that as far as I recall...

I have the same problem as Ken, using WDMX premium. It remembers the export folder during the session, but when I close WD and re-open it defaults back to My Documents. If I open a new document in version 7, then export it remembers were I last exported to in MX
ok - my tests were done with XDPX, as mentioned by Ken in original post; I don't have WDMX premium

WDMX Premium works the same as XDPX, always opens the last location. Both programs share a lot of the same code.
