how to get thumbnail to work with facebook etc

i have used xara 3d to create my new logo but when i add a link in facebook i just get a background rectangle. options are other text objects on the page but not my logo.

any help appreciated.

hi, sorry thought i had posted back but using my mobile it would appear not.
i am trying to post a link on facebook, you know the type of thing, you type in the url of your site and it gives you a choice of thumbnail to choose from. if a logo for example is made in xara designer and imported into a .web project and uploaded then the logo is not viewable as a selectable thumbnail in fb.
i can get around this by making a jpeg of the logo but as the site im referring to has a black background i would prefer not to. is there a way to get around this using the software or is jpeg, png etc the only option

Try this in the head section of the site you are linking to.

<link rel="image_src" href="http://yourwebsite/index_htm_files/logo.png" />

This image should now show up as an option when you set up the link in FB

is there a way to specifically name a group of objects as a named png for example logo.png rather than the number eg. 58.png that xara gives the group?

Yep, you can name the group filename="logo" - this will force the export filter to name the image rather than give it a number. e.g. logo.png or logo.jpg



Edit: image type can be specified under web properties >> image tab
