Hi Cmone,
Good fun This effect is known as 'Tilt-Shift' - though for real TS you need the proper equuipment, everything we do in software to emulate this (or via built into many modern cameras now) is just faking it.
A similar technique to yours was also posted here ; http://xara-users.info/demos/tiltshift/
Hi Steve,
Thx for info, "Tilt-Shift" is the name in English, okay... ;-)
I love the Effect.

Ah yes, I have this Image Analyzer software too.. You are right, they call it 'Out of focus blur'.. But the effect is known in the photographic world as 'Tilt-Shift'.
But, as you have discovered yourself, it's quite easy to create this effect in Xara Designer, Xara Web Designer and Xara Photo & Graphic Designer.
I agree - it's a neat effect and with the right photo it works very well.

Tom, the brain is a wonderful thing - when you create this affect on your own photos, your minds eye recalls and sees the original first, ignoring the tilt-shift effect.
Your mind is fixing it..
But when you see one that someone else has done, then you see their result first because you have no recollection of the original.
It's weird, but that's exactly what I find. But, go back to your image a month or so later and it looks better first up (until you recall the original again )
I know what you mean, I tried looking at it objectively but that's easier said than done.
