Great shot Rich! ... worthy of National Geographic! I guess practice DOES make perfect ... where's my camera http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Ed,
I practiced quite a lot. When I first saw these, they were so active that I couldn't get close. I took the kids for a walk, and they were still there when we got back. I started in normal mode thinking I would never get close. After a while, I shifted to macro mode. I was surprised they were getting closer, and staying for a while. Eventually, I went to the macro conversion mode. I had taken about two hundred shots, and didn't think I would lose too much if I wasn't able to get close enough. Close is about 4 inches for focus. But, they didn't seem to mind me being there, and at times they were actually within the 4 inch range. The brown butterfly was terribly illusive, but I finally got a couple of shots.
