this happens for me with IE but not with FireFox

Nothing lasts forever...
It happens with Chrome and Safari although they don't use a red X image simply another image.
FireFox and Opera will not indicate a missing image however the other browsers will substitute their own generic image.

Hi Fred, it happens with any file that does not have an image associated with the file type. The forum upgrade obviously removed custom images assigned to added filetypes like .xar and .web. The vBulletin software supports standard graphic file types other wise all files would have the red x in IE.
