Rik there are tutorials (written and video) on the Daz site for all three applications. The getting started under the Help menus are very good.
I have used older versions of the apps and look forward to relearning to use these updated versions.

When you start Daz Studio Pro this is the first thing you will see. Makes the learning curve very easy.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
I've had a bit of a play with Daz Studio Pro and I am finding it rather interesting so far. I have created a basic render with a basic female model and was able to render as a png which I brought into Xara and to my delight it came in with alpha transparency so no background to drop out! Now I am working on a quick drawing using the png to get the proportions right.

Thanks for the info, Bill.
The best way I can describe this is that I've never used any 3D software. Ever!
Installed Hexagon 2 and started it. Clicked on the Help menu and clicked on the Tutorial option. That takes me to the DAZ 3D web site advertising the free software. Very confusing!
Then you find a Tutorial option at the bottom of the web site. You click on it. That shows you the web site advertising the free software.
I must be missing something?!
EDIT: Bill, yes, DAZ Studio has videos I can watch.

Hi Rik
tutorials don't appear to be there - DAZ are revamping their support I think, bringing in something called DAZ-TV which is not yet up and running
meanwhile there is this [but not for raw begiiners]:

here are some direct links for tutorials :

Thanks very much for all the info, Steve.
I shall have a look, but, considering I've never used anything like this before, I think I will need basic tutorials.
How to draw (if that's the correct term in these 3D programmes?) simple objects. How to do basic things with them, and so on.
I've see that there is a figure, there already, and you can clothe and dress this figure. But, that's not really learning anything, is it?
Or am I looking at this completely from the wrong point of view?

if you watch the three videos here:
http://www.daz3d.com/i/products/hexagon?
you get an idea of what hexagon is for - same idea as blender..
Daz studio is specifically oriented to figure work - you can use predefined 'asset' or create your own from a base ['genesis'] - one of its selling points is that you can produce art that 'looks like' a photo-shoot without using live models - also good for comic art and animation
bryce is tailored for background art
