Photoshop VS Photo and Graphic Design 6

I'm not a pro. Just an ol' retired Ad-man / Dog-man; but as a hobby, I do a lot of photo shading, cropping, reshaping, and combining with sketches. Too many times I hear "Oh, Photoshopped."; to which I reply Dammit no! it's done with Xara. Thus, my question. What kinds of things can be done with Photoshop that can't be done with Xara?

As one retired (or is it reformed) ad man to another, "Photoshopped" has become a generic term for a photo that has been modified in a bitmap editing program the one with the most top of mind awareness being Photoshop.

I always liked the name Xtreme.

How about Xarafied or just simply Xara'd? or would that be Xaraed?

Ahem to get back to Bev's question, There is a lot of photoshop tasks that Xara can do, and I don't have photoshop so I really can't properly compare, but I do know that Xara's Transparency modes don't quite do the same thing as PS blending modes and While Xara can open and edit raw files it is not best suited for this. I have tried doing tutorials written for photoshop in Xara and a lot of times I am able to replicate the results with less steps.

Photoshop is by Adobe.
Designer Pro etc. is by Xara.

So, it's the name of the programme (Photoshop) and not the company that is being used.
As in 'Photoshopped'.

Therefore, does anything that starts with Xara, work?

I'm not saying that you have to follow those rules, by the way.
Just something to think about!!!

Merry Christmas to you too Tabian, So to get back to Bev's original question can anyone else add to what I've said about similarities and /or differences between Xara's programs and photoshop?
