    Default Blender Particles

I had a lot of problems, and enough fun, to model this hedgehog

    Hello Guy,

That looks pretty good. He definitely has character!

I haven't tried making any people/animals, yet; other than the occasional robot or simulated person made basically out of spheres...

    Have fun!

    Thanks James.

The modeling wasn't all that difficult - a circle, vertices extended both ways and scaled. 2 speres for the eyes and one for the nose. Getting the particle systems more or less right was the hard part.

    Hello Guy,

Yes, the particle system and some of the physics simulations like smoke, etc. are quite involved with a lot of settings and some very important, specific ways of setting them up.

I have used the particle system for several things... placing many object in a scene automatically (pebbles on a beach, stones in a field, and flung darts in a bathroom scene -- don't ask!)

The bottle with the pieces falling out (Frances' 3D challenge) was also done with a particle system as I didn't want to animate the individual pieces.

    Take care

    James

What a cute little hedgehog. I used the particle system for that grassy scene I did and it was a lot to learn, fun though. There is so much to learn with Blender!
