Live Copy Bug

Hi,

I don't know if this been addressed before but I get intermittent problems with live copies that freezes the program altogether.

It happens when live copies are grouped and a transparency is applied to the group.

I haven't pinpoint the exact cause, but I managed to create a file that crashes on my computer. (attached)

Steps:
-Open
-Select group
-Apply a transparency

Marc it does lock up my computer when I try to apply a transparency to your group of live copies. I'm sure the devs will be interested in finding the cause and correcting it.

My question is why group the Live Copies? Apply an transparency to the object within one live copy and they all get the same transparency?

BTW while I was posting the transparency was applied and XDP7 became responsive again, just took a long time to complete. FYI the Live Copies that were not part of the group received the same transparency.

My question is why group the Live Copies?

Well, for example I was working on a brick wall and wanted to fade them to 0% transparency at a certain point.

Using Live Copies would fade all of the bricks rather than only those around the edge. You could break the Live Copy for the individual objects around the edge and apply Transparency or Feathering to them.

I guess you're right but I wanted to keep the ability to modify the appearance of the whole thing at later stages just by editing a live copy.

I kinda like the Idea of grouping live copies and use group transparency, opacity masks, etc...

Yes, there appear to be a couple of bugs here. Firstly, when you apply an attribute to a group of live copies, the change to each live copy instance is being propagated to every other instance even though they are all being changed in the same way. Secondly, the application of transparency to a group should not be causing any change to the live copies inside the group and they shouldn't be doing any propagation but are.

Both of these will be looked at urgently.
