Default New Painter 12 : First impressions

I just downloaded the new Painter 12 trial version and have be giving it a whirl.
It has many nice enhancements, but unfortunately it runs slowly and freezes up frequently.
Additionally, the action of large brushes is delayed and jerky.
The upgrade policy is only to honor previous versions 10 or 11!
I have version 10.5, so that puts me out in the cold, so to speak.
Too bad, for if it had run properly and if my version was eligible for the upgrade price I probably would have bought it!

10.5 is surely equivalent to 10.0 for upgrade purposes?

I would think 10.5 would qualify. What surprises me is that only versions 10.x or 11 qualify. Corel (and MetaCreations/Procreate/Fractal Design) used to allow upgrades from any older version of Painter.

A gamble on their part I think.
They must think that this new version is compelling enough make longtime users pay full price , again!
Personally I think I'll look at Artrage 3 pro once more and reevaluate.

10.x means any version 10 release, so that would include 10.5.

    Oops! My mistake.
    I have version 9.5.
    I was thinking 9.5 but wrote 10.5
    Sorry for the mix-up.

Painter have always been my main working horse for years and it always had some shortages that you have to compensate with a help of Xara or Photoshop. I stopped to buy upgrades after 9,5 version because they didn't do anything with that and introduced things I am absolutely not interested with. Don't see anything really valuable except 64 bit support in this version either and they want me to pay full price now. Looks like it's time to move from Painter to something else and wait when they decide to make a kind of Photoshop plugin from their brush engine. Too bad Microsoft have castrated Expression. What a great piece of software it could be if it would merge with Painter into some kind of hybrid .

    Windows 7 64 bit: Resolution 1680 x 1050

Problem with palettes not displaying correctly if you use anything other than default system font size. I changed the font size to 110% to make reading clearer (no problems with versions 11) and the palettes failed to display correctly and will not appear at all in many instances.
