The red one looks more realistic 3D sphere than the blue one....
An easy method for drawing a simple sphere.
1. Fill a circle with color.
2. Create the hi-lite by filling a duplicate circle with white, use a circular transparency, offset the center of the transparency as illustrated.
3. create an arc for the lower shading and feather the edge.
Nice simple mini-tut there mike!
Very nice mini-tut Mike. An alternative method was posted a few years ago by Mark Goodall, formerly of Xara Ltd.

Mike, yes it is easier that way. Also, you have more control using the fill. It easy to put a stripe around the sphere, too http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
